Westmalle Dubbel
7% Belgian Brown Ale
Westmalle Dubbel was first brewed around 1836 by the Trappist Monks of Westmalle Abbey. It is a dark red-brown beer with a rich, complex taste thanks to re-fermentation in the bottle. You pick up touches of caramel, malt and fruity esters reminiscent of ripe banana. The beer pearls beneath a covering of dense, cream-coloured froth.
Orval
6.2% Belgian Pale Ale
Orval Brewery was created in 1931 to finance the enormous reconstruction works of Orval Abbey. The brewery hired lay workers from the outset, including the master brewer, Pappenheimer, who invented the recipe. Orval is a high fermentation beer. The ageing process adds a fruity note, which strikes a subtle balance between the beer’s full-bodied yet complex flavour and bitterness. The beer’s aromas are very pronounced while maintaining the right level of bitterness thanks to the English method of dry hopping.
Zapato - Onwards
4% Hazy Pale Ale
Now gluten free! A fruity, hazy, sessionable pale ale with Citra, Mosaic and El Dorado. Beautiful rich citrus, tropical fruit and pine notes on a lightly sweet cracker-like base with a satisfying bitter finish.
We originally brewed this for the Onwards Music Festivals, but it now stands proud as a beer in its own right. For the first time this year's Onwards Festival is happening in the Colne Valley on 20 July 2024. A full day of gorgeous music in the beautiful landscape between Slaithwaite and Marsden. Travel together through a variety of the Colne Valley's independent music venues (including Zapato!) and experience live performances from some fine bands and musicians.
Zapato - Zapatapale Motueka
5.5% Pale Ale
Now gluten free! Our steadfast, rotating hop, Citra pale ale is back, this time with Motueka!
Classy NZ Motueka hops offer up distinct crushed lime, bright lemon and notes of basil and mojito - perfect for summer beer garden or barbecue! Motueka works brilliantly with the bright citrus punch of the Citra, adding layers of complexity and subtle herbal undertones.
