FAQs FOR FOOD TRADERS
FAQS
ABOUT THE TAP
Updated 5 January 2024
We have outdoor seating for around 150 guests including some covered seating, plus room indoors for another 50 or so guests.
We are able to use the whole field for events so can have a lot more people than seats in good weather with customers sitting on the grassed areas.
It’s a lovely riverside beer garden, very popular with local walkers and we’re dog and kid friendly, and accessed by easy canal walk from either Slaithwaite or Marsden, or there's parking for cars and bikes.
We love ALL food, but we always want to offer our customers vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options. A lot of families visit the tap, so a children's meal can also be very popular.
Vendors can serve 200+ covers on peak Saturdays and Sundays in good summer weather, but obviously fewer in the cooler months. Friday evenings are quieter.
Our social media team promote all our food events across all channels and will tag and share your stories, etc. We also add the events to our Facebook events (and add you as co-host) and on our own website.
WHAT VENDOR FACILITIES DO YOU HAVE?
There are different site options for vendors - you could pitch either in the garden (when it’s dry!) or on the drive, or on the field. There’s plenty of room for parking a large van or erecting a gazebo - please note it does sometimes get quite windy so you might need gazebo weights.
We have no kitchen facilities indoors currently but we are planning a small kitchen as part of our renovation.
Outdoors vendors have access to fresh water plus the electric sockets for 32A, 16A, 13A plugs. Please bring your own extension leads and adapters.
HEALTH + SAFETY
On your first visit to the site a member of the team will give you a site health and safety run through. If any incidents occur at your food stall, please inform a member of the team immediately so the incident can be logged and recorded in the accident book where necessary, and appropriate first aid offered.
Please ask a member of the team where to discard your waste. There are various bins around the back of the mill, and it's important that our waste is sorted into the correct bins.
Please ensure you leave your pitch clean and free of litter and debris at the end of service.
DO YOU CHARGE A PITCH FEE?
We charge a pitch fee of 10% of gross sales + VAT from food vendors. But we are happy to negotiate fees in unusual circumstances.
ANYTHING ELSE?
We also ask that you please feed our staff - we’ll swap you staff meals for pints, or beer to take away.
We prefer it if food vendors don’t serve drinks and stick to food service.
WHAT ARE YOUR FOOD SERVICE TIMES?
Generally we like to be able to provide food to our guests:
Friday 3.30pm - 8.30pm
Saturday 12 noon - 7pm
Sunday 12 noon - 6pm
Bank Holidays 12 noon - 6pm
Or until sell out! We understand it’s sometimes difficult to predict how it’s going to go but our customers get very disappointed when traders sell out very early because we are in a semi-remote location and there aren't any other food options nearby.
We can do longer hours/additional days on bank holiday, school holidays and special events, etc. If you wish to trade outside of standard hours, please let us know so we can make sure our listings are correct. We also can do shorter hours in the darker months.
